Black Panther first appeared in 1966 in Marvel Comics’ Fantastic Four. Most recently, Black Panther (played by Chadwick Boseman) starred in a hugely successful movie of the same name which has been highly acclaimed not just for its production and performances, but also its cultural significance.

Marvel’s Black Panther, aka T’Challa, the King of the African nation of Wakanda, is portrayed on the coin’s reverse. A brilliant tactician, strategist, scientist, tracker and a master of all forms of unarmed combat, the masked superhero is shown steeled for action within a struck border pattern. The design also incorporates the Marvel logo and movie title ‘Black Panther’.
